Inspection documents pulled through an open records request show Ascent Recycling started illegally recycling metal in January and February, despite saying they wouldn’t. These metal violations handled through the court process. They had 15 citations just for that violation, totaling $3,000 in fine. They stopped metal recycling in April. Now, other citations include: trash, debris, overgrown weeds, vegetation, dust and parking lot-related problems..

One way to limit dust is by paving the areas that are heavily trafficked. The city will take Ascent Recycling to court in August over the latest violations. If the owners do not comply, they’ll be shut down. The neighborhood association says it supports all businesses, but this business seems unwilling to work with the residents and is making their quality of these elderly people’s lives miserable.
